The Role

Responsible for ensuring that site facilities, and machinery used to produce our extensive product range run to their maximum efficiency and output. This includes total preventative maintenance, managing breakdowns of mechanical, electrical, and robotic equipment across three shift working and includes people management and budgetary/cost reporting.

• To lead the site Maintenance department by providing a service that may require reactive or proactive approach, the maintenance team comprises mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, cleaners, painter, gardeners, and ground workers.
• To lead a multi-skilled maintenance team on all our operational equipment and the site facilities infrastructure. Responsible for planned scheduled creation and overseeing the adherence and timely completion of work carried out.
• Optimise availability, productivity and performance from plant and equipment on site and work with others to ensure an effective maintenance plan is in place and importantly adhered too.
• Ensure that all work carried out meets the latest health and safety and environmental legislation and regulations.
• Ensure that the multi skilled site team including apprentices are well trained and motivated to have a sense of urgency to complete repairs in a timely manner, whilst adhering to current health and safety legislation.
• Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures, whilst also mentoring and leading the department.
• Ensure that our PPM system is managed and reviewed so that machine downtime is minimised.
• Manage all maintenance and facilities activities on site including external contractors, acting as a technical specialist in relation to company projects including building improvements and repair.
• Ensure that all risk assessments are undertaken and that safe systems of work are in place in relation to people, plant and equipment, property.
• Manage all relevant inspections and testing comply with health and safety policy and insurers requirements.
• Manage and develop effective supplier relationships and contribute to contract negotiations where appropriate.
• Manage external contractors in the safe delivery of installations, maintenance, and service.
• Contribute in “new build” meetings from a mechanical and electrical perspective and liaise with architects and M and E engineers.
• Ensure high levels of housekeeping are kept throughout all areas of responsibility.
• Manage consumables inventory and replenishment of critical spares.
• Implement and manage continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training working practices and processes.

   

  Maintenance and Facilities Manager

• MUST be a time served Electrical Maintenance Engineer
• Proven experience of maintenance and facilities management including management of a multi-disciplined team.
• Conversant with systems for mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC control systems.
• Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret site plans and drawings / layouts and contribute to discussions around site development and changes.
• Knowledge of Auto-Cad for circuit drawings.
• Knowledge of control system design to replace obsolescence.
• Understand HV distribution to various onsite buildings.
• Plan, coordinate and execute planned and unplanned outages.
• Possess a strong ability to analyse, resolve and implement solutions through solid problem-solving techniques.
• Ability to analyse and present data.
• Possess a recognised Supervisory or Managerial certificate, such as ILM is advantageous.
• IT literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with all levels.
• Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and codes of practice.
• Possess the ability to effectively project manage.
• Experience of Foundry Operations would be an advantage but not essential.
• Ability to recruit, manage and develop a multi skilled team to meet the ever-changing business needs.
• Demonstrate effective leadership ability, to deal with conflict resolution.
• Tact and diplomacy are necessary to supervise employees in a fair and consistent manner.
• Must be able to counsel, guide and evaluate the work of others in a manner that motivates the achievement of company goals.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
