Proman is currently working with a well-established, family run, manufacturing business in Halifax to appoint a Bookkeeper to join the business. You will be responsible for nominal ledger, sales and purchase ledger, Payroll, Reconciliations and VAT Returns. Experience keeping of Accounts in order is essential for this role.  

This is a permanent, part-time, position, working 20 hours a week to suit.


Main responsibilities of the Bookkeeper role are:

  • Controlling and reconciling deposits on a monthly basis
  • Reconciling and controlling all invoices
  • Staff attendance to be monitored for wage payments. Collation of all changes to basic wages
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT Return
  • Producing quarterly and annual management accounts and reports
  • Preparing accounts and schedules for annual accounts


The Person:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an Accounting role; used to running core accounting functions independently
  • Experience of working within a busy commercial office is essential;
  • Ideally ACA/CIMA qualified or part qualified or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communication skills (in person, on the phone and in writing)
  • Confident user of accounting packages, Excel and other MS Office packages
  • Flexible and willing to turn a hand to anything that might reasonably be asked in connection with the business’ accounting function and general daily operations
  • Attention to detail and accurate with numeric data
