£35,000 - £45,000 + Car/Car Allowance



Proman is working with a leading freight forwarder to appoint an experienced Account Manager/Business Development Manager to join the business and grow the branch. The successful Account/Business Development Manager will have an established client base within Road, Air or Sea Freight to join the team and immediately have an impact.


Account Manager - Freight

The purpose of the role will be to bring new business, service, and be the first point of contact for your client. You will have experience of managing your own diary, have established contacts, and have proven sales success within the Freight industry.

Account Manager – Freight

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Cold calling, lead generation & customer appointments
  • Maintain and develop your existing accounts
  • Knowledge of your own hauliers will be a great advantage
  • Build and maintain a good working relationship with customers and suppliers.
  • Liaise with all relevant parties to ensure that expectations are met during the movement of cargo
  • Be accountable for the entire lifecycle of the Sales process from acquisition to delivery

The Candidate

  • New business sales within Freight essential (Air, Sea, Land and Abnormal)
  • Entrepreneurial attitude, self-motivated.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a similar sales role
  • Knowledge of Import & Export procedures / processes desirable
  • Proven experience of rate negotiation with both clients and third parties
  • Have a portfolio of client leads
  • Proven sales target
  • Strong commercials skills and business acumen are necessary as is the ability to identify and maximize opportunities
  • Competent decision making
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
